Music that enhances the moment without overpowering the room
On a cold winter night over twenty years ago, Eric Miglin played his first jazz gig—four hours of intimate jazz in a dark room for a single listener he never met. He was paid two chocolate chip cookies. Somewhere between that empty room and today, Eric has refined a signature style: velvety, understated, romantic jazz that stands apart from the noise.
Today, vocalist and trumpet player Eric Miglin has spent more than two decades performing the timeless melodies of the Great American Songbook, blending smooth vocals with lyrical trumpet in a relaxed style that audiences often describe as warm, calming, and elegant.
Eric’s performances are designed to enhance the atmosphere without overpowering it—music that allows conversation, memories, and the evening to unfold naturally. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Wynton Marsalis, and vocalist Stacey Kent, his sound brings understated sophistication to venues of every size.
Over the years Eric has been featured at performing arts centers, galleries, wineries, civic events, weddings, and senior living communities across the Midwest. Eric has appeared at venues including the Niswonger Performing Arts Center, Lima Civic Center, and the Huber Opera House, along with chamber events, art exhibitions, festivals, and private celebrations.
One memorable evening found legendary entertainer Mickey Rooney stepping out of his trailer to sit backstage and listen during Eric’s performance—an unexpected moment that ended with Rooney’s band inviting Eric to consider a job in Las Vegas.
Today Eric continues to perform the classic jazz standards of the twentieth century—songs celebrated for their beautiful melodies, and heartfelt lyrics. His performances often include stories behind the music, lighthearted humor, and the shared memories these songs evoke.
Whether performing elegant dinner music, an intimate concert, or a relaxed afternoon program, Eric Miglin’s goal is simple: to create music that helps people relax, connect, and enjoy the moment.
